Life today demands an escape from the routine what better way than to spend a few moments at Lal Mahal Palace. The Lal Mahal Palace was the hunting lodge and a forest retreat of the erstwhile rulers of Jaipur.
I have been twice to the Lal Mahal Palace, once in April 2008 for my wedding Anniversary with Hubby and another friend who has his anniversary jus a day after ours. And revisited around end of June 2008 with over 10 couple friends to throw a farewell to another friend. The most fabulous thing about Lal Mahal Palace is the Swiss tents and sprawling lawns. We sat in the lawns throughout the evening till late night or almost dawn :) The food at Lal Mahal and the services are way beyond expectations for a place like it. One thing you must keep in mind if planning to visit Lal Mahal, it is not in Jaipur city. Its in a place called Ramgarh a few Kms (15-20 kms) from Jaipur and around it there is no life. its right in the middle of nowhere encircled by mountains. This is a great place for romantic getaway or to be with a huge group of friends. The first time we went, the 4 of us checked in at 8:00 pm and sat throughout till midnight in the lawns chatting and enjoying each other's company. You must try the mutton sula and chicken tikka in starters. Woke late morning, had a great swim with champagne at the pool and checked out post having lunch. I feel, if you want a peaceful, quite holiday, far far away from the hustle bustle of everyday life and want some seclusion...no place can be better than lal mahal. The tents are far interesting than the rooms. Even the bathrooms in the tents are very well done with tiled flooring, bathtub and all necessary amenities. However, its far to displaced from civilization and life, so if you are looking for shopping and dining in Jaipur then this is not the place for you.
